June 12, 2014 - When it comes to microphones and professional audio products, Shure is legendary. The Who. Brad Paisley. Imagine Dragons. All of these artists - and many more - rely on Shure's iconic microphones, wireless systems and personal monitors for their amazing performances. Today, allen & gerritsen announced it has been selected, after a competitive review, as the social strategy agency of record for the global audio brand.
Best known for its microphones, Shure has been a mainstay of premier stage performances and studio recordings for almost 90 years. Today, from its global headquarters outside Chicago, the company continues to create products that deliver high quality sound and unmatched durability. And while Shure's roster of endorsers includes hundreds of well-known artists and bands, the company's products also cater to recording engineers, broadcasters, systems integrators, videographers, theater and A/V professionals from the hobbyist to the expert.
"We were blown away by the strategic thinking and creative ideas that a&g brought to the table," said Stephen Kohler, Shure's senior director of marketing for the Americas business unit. "It was almost as if they had been in the room with us all along - they knew our business and our challenges as well. We knew immediately that they were the right partner for us."
allen & gerritsen, with offices in Boston and Philadelphia, will be responsible for helping the Americas business unit of Shure develop and implement a social content strategy to grow its fan base, and increase social engagement across a wide range of industries.
The Shure win is the latest example of a&g's growing body of high-profile work in the entertainment space. The agency was tapped last year to lead key social initiatives for Comcast's XFINITY brand. a&g produces and distributes its own branded entertainment content (A Few Good Minutes), an expertise that was featured at the recent 4As national Transformation conference. a&g Labs was chosen last year to invent and build a socially-powered holiday tree for Beats by Dre's flagship SoHo retail store, an effort recognized at the Shorty Awards. And further uptown, the agency since last year has partnered with childhood-education media leader Sesame Workshop, on its brand strategy and PR.
Shure is a coveted addition to that roster, said a&g CEO Andrew Graff.
"We're all huge music fans at a&g, and some of our people are musicians in their own right," said Graff. "To work with a brand like Shure, which has helped deliver some of the world's best audio performances, is a tremendous honor. And it's another opportunity for us to demonstrate the powerful results that can be achieved when entertainment leaders and marketing innovators collide their talents."
